Dr. Khademazad conducts several types of surgical dentistry procedures on the tissues of the mouth to treat injuries, diseases, and defects. When it comes to dentistry, only certain dentists perform surgical dentistry. If you are looking for a new dentist, we welcome your call.
Wisdom Teeth Extraction
Wisdom teeth are an extra set of molars that usually come in behind the standard molars when a person is between the ages of 14 to 18. Not everyone has them. Those who do will likely need to have them removed.
Wisdom teeth extraction is the surgical procedure by which one or more of these extra molars are removed. We typically recommend that patients have their wisdom teeth removed when there is not enough room in the mouth for the teeth to grow in. Others will need to have these teeth extracted because they are causing other types of dental problems that produce pain or infection.
Implant Surgical Site Preparation
Restoring a person’s teeth with dental implants improves the function and appearance of their smile and enables them to live a happier, more confident life. The success of a surgical dentistry implant procedure is largely dependent on the implant surgical dentistry site preparation.
The general requirements for an implant to take place include:
- There must be enough bone present to hold the implant
- The bone into which the implant is being placed must be healthy
- Vital structure proximity to implant
Several patients do not have an adequate amount of healthy bone in which the surgical dentistry implant can be placed. This could be due to periodontal disease, tooth extraction, dental injuries, or infections. In order for these patients to get an implant, a special procedure will need to be conducted to increase the width or height of the bone in the jaw, and also fill in voids and defects.
