Sedation Dentistry Selections

We offer the following levels of sedation dentistry:

Oral Conscious Sedation

Grand Prairie Family Dental provides oral conscious sedation to help our anxious patients stay relaxed throughout the visit. Oral conscious sedation is taken as a pill prior to the procedure and can be used as both a mild and moderate sedative. Its mild effects include drowsiness and its moderate sedative effects may cause patients to fall into a light sleep.

Laughing Gas

Also known as inhalation sedation, laughing gas is a form of light sedation that is typically offered to younger patients or those who experience mild anxiety in the dentist's chair. Laughing gas is an odor-free, colorless gas that is delivered through a comfortable breathing mask. In this case, the patient reaches a relaxed state during treatment but can respond to speech or touch.

Dr. Khademazad always carefully controls the amount of gas administered to ensure maximum comfort and safety for every patient. Patients can expect to be fully relaxed while remaining fully awake and able to follow instructions.

IV Sedation

Intravenous (IV) sedation is also known as sleep dentistry. This form of dentistry is offered to patients who experience extreme dental anxiety, have special healthcare needs, or who will undergo oral surgery or longer treatment.

Patients under IV sedation will not fall asleep but will instead experience relaxation and temporary memory loss. For this type of sedation, an anti-anxiety medication is directly administered into the veins to promote relaxation. Our anesthesiologist will adjust the medication as needed during your treatment.

Absolutely the best experience I've ever had at a dental office. The ladies up front were friendly and greeted me right away. They took me back immediately. The care that I received once I was in the chair was remarkable. Dr. K was very gentle and thorough. They made every effort to make sure that I was comfortable and understood my treatment. I was extremely satisfied. I will recommend this office to anyone!
